A Celebration of 60 Years: A Journey of Love, Faith, and Family......

 #591

Iyer and Mami.

I stepped out of Amritkala after 31 days today, (2nd time in to Lift)!! Outside food too after 30 days.

A Diamond Jubilee of Togetherness

Today marked a truly special milestone in our family’s history—my in-laws' 60th wedding anniversary. Married on 26th November, their journey together has been a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering faith. To make this occasion memorable, we planned a celebration that blended tradition, family bonding, and gratitude, held at the ISKCON temple hall, in Bangalore.

This wasn’t just another anniversary. It was an opportunity for the family to come together and honour two remarkable individuals who embody the ideals of companionship and unconditional love.

The Planning: From Trichy to Bangalore

The idea for this celebration took root back in May during our visit to Trichy, where my father-in-law, whom I affectionately call "Iyer," performs a formal ceremony every year. (on their wedding anniversary on 26/11). It has been their tradition to seek divine blessings in a simple yet meaningful manner, at Trichy, but this year, Lalitha and I felt it should be something more—a family gathering that reflects the legacy they have built over six decades.

After initiating discussions at Trichy, we decided Bangalore would be the perfect venue to bring together extended family members, especially since so many of Lalitha’s cousins, uncles, and aunts have made this city their home for decades. For those traveling from further away, (Lalitha's siblings) including the USA, Mumbai & Trichy, holding the event on a Sunday here, made it workable for everyone.

The Event: Rituals, Blessings, and Family

The celebrations were steeped in Vedic traditions, led by a team of a dozen priests who conducted rituals with precision and devotion. Their chants echoed through the serene halls of ISKCON, adding a deeply spiritual aura to the occasion. It felt as though the divine itself was blessing the couple as we all prayed for their health and happiness in the years ahead.

The family gathering was intimate yet vibrant, with about 50 relatives coming together to celebrate this joyous occasion. The energy of the day was infectious—laughter, conversation, and nostalgia flowed freely as stories of the past were shared. (Yes, that one reminded me more of DMK/ADMK election meeting, never ending ahhahhahhahah!).

A Feast to Remember

ISKCON Bangalore's reputation for exquisite prasadam certainly did not disappoint. Both the breakfast and lunch were top-notch, offering a perfect culinary complement to the spiritual energy of the day. Each dish was prepared with care and devotion, leaving everyone satisfied and singing praises for the arrangements. Also there were siders like Ginger-Lemon Juice, Almond milk to drink as you please all along.

My Gratitude: A Small Gesture of Appreciation

For me, personally, this celebration was not just about the event—it was a way to express my gratitude to my in-laws. Iyer and Mami have been pillars of strength for our family, particularly during challenging times like Radha’s birth in Trichy, which was fraught with medical complications. Their support and prayers were instrumental in helping us navigate that nerve-wracking period, and I’ve always wanted to repay their kindness in some small way. (Yes, Shravan too was born in Trichy- his was a non event!).

Organising this celebration felt like a way to give back—a gesture of love and respect for all they have done for us over the years.

A Blessing for the Future

Iyer and Mami have always exemplified how a couple should be—supportive, understanding, and deeply rooted in their values. Their bond is a source of inspiration not just for me, but for everyone in the family. I hope and pray they continue to enjoy great health and happiness, and that their blessings remain with us all.

Today’s event was more than a celebration of their 60 years together. It was a celebration of the legacy they’ve built and the family they’ve nurtured. As we look ahead, I hope we can carry forward their values and strengthen the bonds that keep us together.

Closing Thoughts

It’s not often that one gets to celebrate such a remarkable milestone. Organising this event alongside Lalitha has been deeply fulfilling, and I’m grateful that we could make this day special for Iyer and Mami. As they return to Trichy to continue their tradition of annual formal ceremonies, this day will remain a cherished memory for our entire family.

Here’s to many more years of love, faith, and togetherness!
