For 42 years, ever since the Falklands War when Gen. Gen. Leopoldo Galtieri provoked Margaret Thatcher to war by Annexing Falklands Islands, and the resulting sinking of the Gen. Belgrano by Thatcher, I've been a staunch anti-Argentina man. The fury intensified with the "Hand of God" goal by Maradona in the '86 World Cup against England. In fact, my Brazilian friends humorously refer to illegally grown genetically modified crops in Brazil as "Maradona"! Argentina's sinking opinion has been entrenched in my mind. I never liked Messi..! Also Argentina was soft on Nazi war criminals to enter there with their loot and Israel hounded them from there!
But now, one man in the form of its new President, Javier Milei, is attempting to change everything—addressing the sinking economy, streamlining government departments by eliminating them, and shifting the country to the right. It's certainly not going to be an easy task, as he has no majority in the legislature, but he's making the effort. His recent Davos speech in WEF, was nothing short of earth-shaking; he walked into the lion's den and boldly proclaimed, "You're all crap, you need to change!
I'm impressed by his actions, such as flying commercials and shaking hands with every passenger. For the first time, I find myself viewing Argentina and Argentines in a new, positive light. The video is here... He won Elections in January, the man speaks his mind, not afraid to speak the truth. Such leaders in a leaderless /rudderless world, provide hope.....
Wishing them good luck; their success story may offer a new hope for the world. God Bless.
Valentine's Day outing with Lalitha, marked a special milestone after 25 years, igniting memories of its discovery during my time in Japan back in 1999. It was a day of firsts, including my first ice cream in what felt like an eternity, albeit it wasn't quite up to par! Nonetheless, I indulged in another to compensate, opting for a waffle ice cream, making up for lost time in the sweetest way possible. Perhaps turning 60 is the perfect juncture to embrace Valentine's Day anew! The outpouring of messages from friends and family, highlighting how fortunate I am to have Lalitha as my life partner and the depth of her affection, further underscored the significance of the occasion. In my blog post, I'll conclude with a reflection on what I call TDS—Trump Derangement Syndrome. It's clear that a multitude of forces, including Democrats, Republicans, the press, judiciary, executive, and legislature, are all aligned against him, striving to silence his voice. The Military Industrial Complex is also funneling vast sums to keep him at bay. But mark my words: they will not succeed. The American public is waking up to the blatant double standards at play, with Joe Biden seemingly exempt from scrutiny on matters like Ukrainian and Chinese corruption, not to mention his mishandling of confidential documents. The upcoming November elections will be a reckoning, as voters are poised to deliver a resounding message. Of course, the Democrats are adept at playing a dirty game, consistently outmaneuvering Republicans through tactics like postal and absentee ballot manipulation and extending voting days, as witnessed in 2020. Republicans must remain vigilant. The forces aligned against Trump are formidable, from figures like Reid Hoffman of LinkedIn to Mark Zuckerberg and beyond. It remains to be seen how this will unfold, but one thing is certain: the fight is far from over.
