Trump's Re-Election: Democracy's Test or Descent into Dictatorship?

 #495

As I sit down to ponder over the recent projection of Donald Trump as a potential dictator, reminiscent of the Roman emperors, I can't help but feel a shiver run down my spine. The cover of The Economist depicting this grim possibility serves as a stark reminder of the tumultuous times we are living in.

The certainty with which Trump is predicted to win 35 states and be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on January 20th, 2025, has set alarm bells ringing in the deep state establishment, the Swamp as well as the Communists / Left in USA. The path leading up to this inauguration day, however, seems fraught with peril.

From November 5th to January 19th, we may witness a relentless onslaught of legal battles and attempts to tarnish Trump's image, painting him as a criminal or a felon, all in a bid to dissuade the electoral college from nominating him as 47th President.

But what truly keeps me worried at night is the specter of violence that looms over this period. The unrest and chaos that erupted in 1968 and 2020 in USA, may pale in comparison to what could unfold if Trump secures another term. It's a chilling prospect, one that challenges the very fabric of our civic Western society. The efforts to nullify his presidency efforts are relentless and Europe too has joined in this unholy excercise.

Yet, amidst this gloom, I find solace in the resilience of the American system. The American democracy, with its checks and balances, has weathered storms far fiercer than this. While Trump may have legitimate grievances
(Immigration, Drill Baby Drill, Inflation) to address and reforms to enact, we must remember that not everything can be set right in a mere four years as he is entitled. As my son (Settled now in San Francisco) rightly says, the Power of President has waned considerably, ever since the end of cold war. It is true to a larger extent.

As citizens of world, it is our duty to remain vigilant, to hold our leaders accountable, and to defend the principles upon which American nation and other democracies were founded. Remember, what is Morning show of a movie, in America, is invariably the Night Show in other Democracies, (America shows the way; If America catches Cold- The world Sneezes). The road ahead may be fraught with uncertainty, but it is also paved with opportunity – the opportunity to reaffirm our global commitment to democracy, to safeguard our freedoms, and to ensure that the voices of the people are heard.

So let us brace ourselves for the trials that lie ahead across the world 2024 is a crucial challenging year for Democratic nations (India, Brazil, UK,). Let us stand together in the face of adversity, united in our pursuit of a more perfect union. And let us never forget that, ultimately, the power rests in our hands – the power to shape the future of each of our nation and preserve the legacy of liberty for generations to come.
